Discover what's inside the Light-Up Library™ Boys Light-Up Cubes 6-Pack, featuring Blair, Alex & Sammy characters. Perfect for sensory play in water or bins.
Quick answer
The Light-Up Library™ Boys Light-Up Cubes 6-Pack includes six cubes with designs inspired by characters Blair, Alex, and Sammy. Each cube lights up automatically in water, making it a versatile sensory play toy for bath time or sensory bins.
What you get in the box
The 6-Pack contains six individual light-up cubes, each featuring a character design from the Light-Up Library™ series: two cubes for Blair, two for Alex, and two for Sammy. The cubes are made of durable, waterproof plastic and are activated by water—no batteries or switches needed.
Each cube measures about 1.5 inches across, making them easy for small hands to grasp and drop into water. The light-up effect is bright but not harsh, ideal for calming sensory play.
How the light-up feature works
The cubes contain a sensor that triggers the LED when the cube is submerged in water or even just splashed. The light stays on as long as the cube is wet and turns off when it dries. This automatic on/off means no batteries to replace and no switches to fumble with during play.
One trade-off: the cubes need to stay moist to keep glowing. If your child takes them out of the water, the light will fade within a minute. For extended play, keep them in a shallow water tray or sensory bin.
Play ideas beyond the bath
While designed for bath time, these cubes work great in sensory bins filled with water beads, rice, or sand. The light adds a magical element to pretend play, like creating a glowing treasure hunt or a night-time ocean scene.
Because the cubes are sealed, they can be used in water without worry about leaks. However, avoid using them with sharp objects or in very hot water, as that could damage the seal.
Decision rules for the Light-Up Library Boys 6-Pack
- Buy this if you want: A ready-to-play sensory toy that works in water or dry sensory bins. The automatic light-up feature engages kids without requiring adult setup.
- Skip this if you need: A toy that glows continuously outside of water. The cubes only light when wet, so they're not ideal for dry-only play or as a nightlight. Consider the Glo Pals Light-Up Cubes 4-Pack for a smaller set if you only need a few cubes for travel or one child.
- Consider the character theme: This pack is designed for fans of Blair, Alex, and Sammy. If your child prefers other characters, look for the 4-Pack or 6-Pack featuring those designs. The 6-Pack offers the best value per cube, but only if the character themes match your child's interests.
- Check the age range: Recommended for ages 3 and up due to small parts. Always supervise water play with these cubes.
